April 2009
The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Headley Court is a tri-service military unit set in 87 acres of Surrey Green Belt.
The unit specialises in the treatment of military patients with complex trauma, brain and spinal injury and a wide range of musculo-skeletal and rheumatologic conditions.

The patients are treated through intensive and comprehensive residential programmes which support them in reclaiming function, mobility and independence, and wherever possible, the fitness levels required to resume active service.
Headley Court is a unique, key national facility which performs a vital role in supporting injured service personnel.
PriDE and DE are now involved to improve the facilities on site, including the creation of a new £8.6m Rehabilitation Complex. This will feature:
Swimming Pool
Sports Area
Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU)
Centre for Injury Research and Clinical Assessment (CIRCA)
The new rehabilitation complex will allow the DMRC to carry out a number of functions in one location and remove the need for the use of off site facilities. It will provide a purpose-built facility which is modern, sustainable and compliments the character of the site and the existing buildings.
Construction Launch Day at DMRC Headley Court
A stakeholder partnering event was held at DMRC Headley Court. The day was to give an outline of the rehabilitation centre project, and to engage and encourage the sub-contractors in attendance so that they would provide the best value when tendering for the project’s work packages.
The complex is the first stated objective of charity Help for Heroes and the charity’s founder, Bryn Parry, was at the event. He gave a presentation explaining the importance of this project, along with staff from the centre. The benefits of such a facility and the forms of training and physiotherapy that would be implemented were presented.
The event was a success and should benefit the project process.
