Background

The project at RMA Sandhurst to redevelop the existing Redgra track began in 2004, with various schemes and ideas being tabled. The project cost soared and was eventually shelved in 2006 due to financial constraints.

However, with a more than generous donation from the King of Jordan, a former cadet at the Academy, the project was able to go ahead.

The works involved the demolition and removal of the existing spectator stand, hammer discus cage and concrete terracing.

The track itself was relieved of the old Redgra surface and supplemented with new foundation stone to the required levels and depths set out by the consultants, ‘Sports Labs’, design.

Once kerbed, drained and graded, two layers of porous macadam were laid through a specialist laser controlled paver to a fine tolerance. The polymeric materials used to provide the athletics track are the latest in PU technology providing a resilient, cushioned, spike tolerant surface that complies with very stringent IAAF and UKA design criteria.

Since contract commencement PriDE has had a string of successes for the awards cabinet!
